Raymond C. Sabatke, 85, of Port Charlotte, Florida, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte.
Born May 4, 1922 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Raymond, moved to Port Charlotte in 1988 from his long time home of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served in the 115th U.S. Army Air Corps 20th Bomb Squadron, 2nd Bomb Group during World War II as a B17 bombardier. He flew 29 missions out of Foggia, Italy. Raymond worked 34 years before retiring at Honeywell Inc. Military Avionics Division in Minneapolis, MN, as a Metrology Engineer. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Mounds View, MN, and an associate member and Trustee of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Port Charlotte, and was a member of American Legion Post 110 in Port Charlotte.
Raymond is survived by his loving family, wife Ruth A. (nee-Timm) Sabatke of 45 years, three sons, Charles A. (Linda) Sabatke of Geneva, IL, Bruce A. (Mary) Sabatke of Minneapolis, MN, and Kurt D. (Barbara) Sabatke of Coon Rapids, MN; seven grandchildren, and 4 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Selma (nee-Neitzel) Sabatke, and first wife, Ruth Janet Sabatke.
