RICHARD G. GALAMBOS, 81, of Port Charlotte, Florida died June 13, 2011 at home in Port Charlotte.
He was born in 1930 in Hammond, Indiana and moved to Port Charlotte 16 years ago from Griffith, Indiana. Rich was a retired manager and engineer for Amoco Oil Company. He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church of Port Charlotte and a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Griffith, Indiana. Member of Knights of Columbus Council #11483, Loyal Order of the Moose #2121, Elks Lodge #2153, and American Legion Post #110 all of Port Charlotte. Rich was a volunteer for the Riverside Behavioral Center in Punta Gorda and Guardian Ad-Litem Program. He also served as a volunteer mediator for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court. Rich was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and proud graduate of Purdue University.
Survived by his loving family, five daughters, Janet M. Willis of Kailua-Kona, HI, Susan Bartos of Houston, TX, Mary Galambos of Griffith, IN, Becky McKinley of Griffith, IN and Beth Wyrick of Michigantown, IN; three sons, John M. Galambos of Munster, IN, Vincent P. Galambos of Griffith, IN and Christian Galambos of Hobart, IN; 14 grandchildren and loving companion, Lori Morrow of Port Charlotte. He was preceded in death by Betty Jean Galambos, his wife of 49 years and a son, Gregory Galambos.
