Richard was born January 24, 1944, in New York City, New York to the late Richard James Brown and Josephine (Coffey) Brown. He was a retired longshoreman and U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He moved to Florida with wife after he retired in 1994. Member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Port Charlotte.
Survived by his loving family, his daughter, Colleen A. (Joseph) Zito of East Islip, NY; two sons, Richard (Allison) Brown of Sayville, NY and Russell Brown of Islip, NY; two brothers, Roger Brown of Rockingham, NC and Rodney Brown of Que Gardens, NY; five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 2-4 PM and 5-7 PM at Roberson Funeral Home, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 9:00 AM December 11, 2024, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 1441 Spear St., Port Charlotte, FL 33948. Interment with military honors will follow at 2 PM Wednesday at Sarasota National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his wife, Beatrice J Brown who died in 2016.
