Born January 16, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, Dick, a retired law enforcement officer with 21 years service with the Downers Grove Police Department and 9 years as Head Bailiff for Du Page County Sheriffs Department, moved to Charlotte County with his wife Elaine from Triumph in 1993. Dick, a loving husband, father, and friend, enjoyed canoeing natures wild rivers, and was a member of the Illini Down Streamers of Illinois, the Retired Policemans Association and the Christ Community United Methodist Church of Port Charlotte.
He is survived by his children, sons Keith R. (wife-Lori-Nan) Obert of Englewood, FL and Michael D. (wife-Karen) Obert of Punta Gorda, FL, and daughter Tricia (husband-Dale) Sullivan of New Port Richey, FL; 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, 1 cousin, and best friend and close companion Joann Downs. Dick was preceded in death by his wife Elaine R. Obert in October 1999.
