Richard Paul Turney, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte.
Richard was born to Otis and Beatrice Turney on Uly 14, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York. He was a custodian for Charlotte High School for over twenty years. Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed many things in life including Horse Race Betting. He loved building puzzles, gardening and landscaping, watching tv in his favorite chair watching his favorite western movies. He loved the holidays with his family, loved chocolate and playing cards. Richard was a good man who will forever be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Louise; his son, Paul (Melissa) Turney of Port Charlotte; his daughter, Jamie (Matt) Logan of Punta Gorda, FL; his cousin, George Murman; sisters in laws, Rose Ann Spinelli, Toni Ioveno and Teresa Franzone; Nieces, Amanda, Ashley and Delilah; nephew, Andrew; grandchildren, Thomas, Sabrina, Angel Groves, Rebekah Logan and Khloe Logan and 3 great grandchildren, Erietta Groves, Myla Groves and Miles Turney.
A Graveside service and interment with military honors by the United States Army will be held, Tuesday 11:30 AM, June 16, 2026, at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida.
