Rita L. Barton, 67, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.

Rita was born to Irving and Sally Chopik on January 28, 1954 in Irvington, New Jersey. Rita enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and her puppies and enjoyed listening to music. She was a teacher’s assistant for approximately 15 years at Community Christian School in Port Charlotte. She was a member of Family Church of Port Charlotte for many years. She was missed dearly by all who loved and knew her. Rita will be remembered by all who loved and knew her.

Survivors include her loving children, her daughters, Katie Griswold of North Port, FL and Bethany Herron of Atlanta, GA; her 2 sons, Matthew Barton and Billy Barton, Jr. both of Port Charlotte, FL; her sister, Dr. Joan Morris of Newbury, CA and several grandchildren.

A Memorial Service and Inurnment will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International.
