He was born January 26, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Punta Gorda 19 years ago from Youngstown, Ohio. Robert was a retired District Manager for BP Oil Company. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survived by his loving family, his wife of 57 years, Dorothy B. Blakey of Punta Gorda; a daughter, Susan Simon of Birmingham, Michigan; a son, Robert M. Blakey of Tipp City, OH; a sister, Irene Bond of Houston, TX; and 4 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, 11:00 AM, July 30, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda, 25250 Airport Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Rev. Stephen Mock will officiate. Private interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.

My memories of Bob...letting drive in your red miatta. What a great time! I also remember him telling me when I got my senior pictures to make sure I had a professional pose taken. I guess this was to use to publicity! He was a great man! One, I know many people admired.

George's phone call was not unexpected but still very sad and final. We are so sorry your loss. You and Bob had such a long and complete marriage for which you will treasure many memories. Avie and I talked about the dual involvement B and Jim had in both our marriages. And laughed about the time the guys took off from school and drove to Florida. That was a real "trip", so to speak. And nervy too. We were so sorry to not see you two in your Florida home but are just not Florida people. Our last visit to the state was in 1990! It was so good to see you two at some homecomings and the very nice dinner we had, courtesy of Bob, with Anne Linton serveral years ago. I know you will come north sometime to see family and hope we can arrange to meet somewhere for a visit.
