Robert Earl Russell, Sr. 77, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Monday, September 18, 2023, at ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte.
“Bob” was born to Herbert and Anna (Rosier) Russell on February 28, 1946, in Sykesville, MD. He was a hardworking, devoted family man. Bob was a Firefighter/Paramedic for the Baltimore County Fire Department (Station 18). He also volunteered as a member of Liberty Road and Sykesville volunteer Fire Departments. Bob retired from the Fire Department after 25 years of service. Bob also had his own house painting business for 15 years before he and his wife, Rose retired to Port Charlotte, Florida. Once there, he decided to take on a new job working at the First United Methodist Church. Dad just couldn’t keep still. Bob was always there for whoever needed assistance. He never thought twice about helping a family member, friend or neighbor. Bob enjoyed crabbing on Chesapeake Bay, car shows, listening to country music, hanging out with his neighbors who he saw as friends and smoking cigar buddies. Bob was a wonderful husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend and will forever be missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie (Warner) Russell; his brother, David Russell of Galivants Ferry, SC; son, Robert Jr. of Carvel Beach, MD; his daughter, Brenda McBee of Forest Hill, MD and 6 grandchildren, Courtney, Craig, Lindsay, Samantha, Andy and Cameron; and 2 great-grandchildren, Mia and Grace.
