Robert M. (Bob) Hiel, 70, of Punta Gorda, Florida, died Friday, September 1, 2006 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center hospital in Punt Gorda.
Born July 4, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, Bob, a Merchant Marine Seaman for more than 20 years before retiring, previously owned and operated Biffs Grill restaurants in Medina, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan. Bob became a full time resident of Punta Gorda, moving from Troy, Michigan in January of this year.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years Marion (nee-MacKay), and four children, two sons, Mark Robert Hiel of Fort Myers, FL and Kirk Hiel of Naples, FL, and daughters Cheryl (Dave) Surgeon of Naples and Celeste Hiel of Punta Gorda; five grandchildren, three granddaughters, Natalie, Valerie and Stefanie Surgeon, grandsons Robbie Hiel, and Kirk (Patty) Hiel, Jr., and one great grandchild, Rylie Grace Surgeon; one brother, Edward (Sharon) Hiel of Punta Gorda, five sisters, Annie Moons and Joanne (Ed) Hampton both of MI, Kathy Hiel and Sandra (William) Kaiser both of NC, and Barbara (Bill) Miller of TN, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
