Robert Jerome Nooney, 93, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, under the great care of Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, FL.
Robert (Bob) Nooney was born Friday, October 26, 1928, in Springfield, MA. Robert, a retired World War II Navy Veteran, was married to Roslyn C. Nooney who preceded him in death in January of 2014, and leaves behind, four sons Stephen Nooney and wife Marianne of Westfield, Ma., Donald Nooney of Southwick, ma, Bradford Nooney and wife Norma Jean of Springfield, Ma. and William Nooney and wife Teresa of Panama City, Fla. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Robert was a Master Electrician and Electrical Inspector. He attended Wilbraham Monson Academy. His Step Father once was the Police Commissioner of Springfield, Ma.
Robert and his wife Roslyn, loved to travel and spent many happy weekends boating on Lake George in New York state. He enjoyed being President of the Agawam Little League, of which he helped start back in the early 1960’s, was a Boy Scout Master and shared his life with many miniature schnauzers over the years. They moved to Port Charlotte, Fla in 1991 and enjoyed many years of beautiful weather and the company of many new friends.
A Committal ceremony with Military Honors by the United States Navy and burial to follow will be held 10 AM on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Sarasota National VA Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida. Father Chad Lynch will lead services. A memorial service celebrating Robert’s life will be held in Florida on March 1, 2022.
