Robert “Bob” Lawrence Bass, 83, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully at the age of 83 in Port Charlotte, FL on the evening of Saturday, January 3, 2026.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Fred and Elsie (Lisy) Bass on February 11, 1942. As a Parma High School graduate of the class of 1960, He was a proud Redmen and kept in touch with his classmates by getting together for Breakfast to remember the good old days. Bob completed his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University and was also a graduate of Cleveland State School of Law for his post Graduate degree. His professional accomplishments include being a Licensed Real Estate Agent for Bass Realty, a Brecksville City Councilman, Business Owner of American Professional Temporaries, Inc. & American Professional Home Health, Inc. In his retirement he created Classic Restoration where he was the Restoration Specialist.
As a true Clevelander, Bob cherished his baseball team, The Cleveland Indians – so much that being a season ticket holder was not enough- he attended Indians Fantasy Camp in 1991 with his brother-in-law Timothy Brown (Melanie) of Medina, OH. Bob was also a proud Mason & proud American.
With his soulmate, Cheryl, Bob enjoyed traveling & the great outdoors….and oh the story telling. Most memorable were the weeks spent volunteering for the National Park Service in Kodiak Alaska – great memories and even greater stories.
In retirement Bob and Cheryl sought sunshine and the “island” type lifestyle in Port Charlotte, Florida where he would enjoy sharing his stories of travel & adventure with his friends & neighbors on “Bass Beach” nightly at 5pm.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Cheryl (Brown), his sister Beverly Enderlein (Gene), his sons Michael Bass of Akron, OH and James Bass (Sarah) of Strongsville, OH, his step-children Melissa Randall (Richard) of Granville, OH, Christen Varley of Bath, OH and David Beam (Mollie) of Broadview Heights, OH along with 10 grandchildren; Abigail Randall, Kathryn Randall, Emily Randall, Lillian Varley, Reagan Bass, Taylor Bass, Sydney Bass, Liam Beam, Margaret Beam & Elizabeth Beam and many nieces & nephews (and great nieces & nephews) from Minnesota. Though we grieve, we are grateful for the love and light Bob Bass brought to our lives.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Spring 2026 in Cleveland, OH. In lieu of Flowers, Bob would love to have you make any donation in his name to your favorite charity or organization.
