Coach, THANK YOU for keeping me on track all those years ago. Seeing you whenever I came "home" was the highlight of the trip. Godspeed my friend, I love you.

Mr. Johnson was hands down the best teacher I ever had. Except for my AP classes, I don’t think I really had a class that asked for more than just rote memorization or problem solving. Through the discussion-based structure of his class, my peers and I developed a deeper understanding of not just the history we were taught, but how it fits in with the broader story of humanity. That that the how’s and whys of history creep up over and over again wearing a different face. That history is people and their stories, making it more personal than a list of names and dates. I credit being one of Mr. Johnson’s students as one of the major lynchpins of my life. Opening the door to see the world outside of Port Charlotte and outside of a US centric mindset. I don’t think I would be where or who I am today without having taken what was considered one of, if not the most difficult class in Port Charlotte High School. Thank you, Mr. Johnson, for everything and my deepest condolences to the entire family.

34 years...so much Bob gave to each student, each class, and Port Charlotte High School...yet 34 years just isn't enough. Bob was the greatest teacher I have ever witnessed in action. He made a huge difference in the world, a world class impact!

I met Bob when I came to teach at PCHS in 1999. I had the privilege of working with him until his retirement. In those years there were times I sought Bob’s help in matters he was far more knowledgeable in than me . Bob always had with a smile and a laugh with my questions . Bob is truly a great loss and he will be missed . My sincere condolences to Pam and his family .

My daughter, Stacy Figueredo, was a student of Mr. Johnson and thrived under his tutellige. She was quite shy, but was able to become involved with many school activities, including model UN. Mr.Johnson's involvement helped Stacy become more confident and she has always credited him with helping her to achieve her goals. I extend my deepest condolences to his family. He was a Great man.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Aden- it is an impossible task to sum up in a few words how incredible your dad was as a person and the impact he had on me as a person and as a parent of a MUNer. His enthusiasm for life was contagious and his smile radiated joy. I’m a better person for having known him. We lost touch over the years, but the memories are forever. My condolences to you and all of Bob’s loved ones. Please know you’re in my thoughts and prayers.

A lovely obituary for the greatest of all teachers and mentors to ever have graced so many lives. When I look back on my high school years and all the many twists and turns of that time (‘99)- I am so personally grateful for his presence in my life. His World Religions class was by far my favorite. I still remember and use many of the teachings and readings we covered. In fact, it’s helped me to guide my young one through her many questions about the world, different religions, customs and the “what it all means” stuff. So indeed, his legacy truly lives on and will continue to… Sending my condolences and thoughts from bonnie Scotland- a place I likely never would have ended up, if not for Mr. Johnson. Forever grateful, Nicole
