Rocco Joseph Squillante, 87, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away March 11, 2010 at Tidewell Hospice & Palliative Care in Englewood. He was born to Carmelo and Lucia( Calotta) Squillante August 15, 1922 in Elmsford, New York and moved to Port Charlotte in 1982 from Dobbs Ferry, NY.Rocco veteran of WW II serving in the US Army between 1942 to 1946. He retired from the New Rochelle New York Water Company with 25 years of service. He was a volunteer Fireman for many years with Ladder Company #23 Dobbs Ferry, NY. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather and great-Grandfather and will be missed but not forgotten.
Survived by his son Michael J. Squillante of Port Charlotte; a daughter, Eileen Kelly of Lake worth, FL. Four grandchildren, Shelia, Catherine ,Michael, Sarah; four great grandchildren, Lauren Eileen, Rudolph Richard, Josephine Helga and Alexander Rocco; three sisters, Lillian Jimison of NY, Josephine Garcia of NY, Gloria Forrester of NY; Many Nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his Loving wife of 66 Yrs. Josephine Squillante who passed away November 8, 2009 and his son Richard Squillante , two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held Wed. March 17, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a catholic wake service at 7:00 PM at Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory Port Charlotte Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 PM Thur. March 18, 2010 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Military honors by the US Army and Bagpiper will follow at Church.
