Born March 2, 1928 in Anchovy, Jamaica, Roland, a Cabinet maker, moved from Jamaica to England, where he and his wife Beatrice, lived, raising four daughters, before relocating to Port Charlotte in 1986. He was a member of Praise Tabernacle in Port Charlotte.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Beatrice Thompson of Port Charlotte; daughters Jennifer Campbell of England, Angela Codner of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Sandra Seabrooks of England, and Marlaina Chapman of New Zealand; a sister, Doreen Bent of Jamaica; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.
Visitation for Roland will be held this Friday, August 5, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte. Funeral services will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, at Praise Tabernacle, 18350 Edgewater Dr., with committal and entombment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.
