Ronald L. Zile, age 79, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 5, 2012 after a long battle with heart disease.
Ronald was born on January 15, 1933 in Detroit, MI to Leo and Genevieve Zielinski. After serving for 4 years in the US Navy, he went on to earn an MBA from University of Detroit. He worked at Federal Reserve Bank in Detroit for 25 years working his way up as a mail boy to the Vice President. He moved to South Haven, MI in 1978 to serve as President and CEO of Citizens Trust and Savings Bank until retirement in 1994. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Ronald is survived by his three children, Robert (Andra) Zile of White Lake, MI, Kathryn (Kevin Knight) Eckhout of Clarkston, MI, Debra (Gerald) Philipp of Mattawan, MI; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving companion of many years, Waltraud Mitter and their dog, Muffin, also of Punta Gorda, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Grace Zile.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church of Punta Gorda, 4005 Palm Drive Punta Gorda, Florida 33950. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, PO Box 4527 New York, NY 10163.
