Royce E. Wallace, 98, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at Tidewell Hospice, Inc. in Port Charlotte.
Royce was born October 7, 1915 in Knox, Indiana and moved to Port Charlotte in 1978 from Princeton, Indiana where he was owner and operator of an appliance and furniture store. He was also a foreman at Whirlpool refrigerator plant in Evansville, IN where he retired from there in 1971. In Princeton he was an active member of Retail Merchants, Lions, Club and First United Methodist Church. Royce was a member for many years at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, the Port Charlotte Lions Club and was very active with Habitat for Humanity, Health plus Meals on Wheels, Charlotte Promenades Square Dance Club and Bowling Leagues.
Survivors include his son, James (Phyllis) Wallace of Port Charlotte and Fred T. (Viola) Wallace of Brandon, FL; a daughter, Ada M. “Sandy” Julian of Port Charlotte; a step-Brother, C.A. Manning of Owensville, IN; a step-sister, Phyllis Echols of Evansville, IN; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Ada Mae; brothers, Thomas A. Wallace, Lowell E. Wallace and John J. Wallace and a step-brother, Jerry Manning.
Celebration of Life will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church in Port Charlotte. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Shiloh Cemetery in Princeton, IN.
