Scot Stover

February 26, 1960 - June 8, 2008

He was born February 26, 1960 in Miami, FL and moved to Port Charlotte in 1999 from Tavernier, FL. He was the founder of West Coast Aluminum Manufacturing, Inc. for many years as a certified building contractor. He was a veteran of the US Navy as a machinist mate for the USS Carl Vinson, CVN, 70, which he helped build. He is a plank owner. He grew up in the Florida Keys and was an avid fisherman, boater and diver. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Dawn A. Stover; two sons, Dillon S. Stover and Bain M. Edmondson of Port Charlotte, FL; his mother, Frances S. Rhodus of Islamorada, FL, his father, Herbert F. Stover of Meredith, NH, step-mother, Joni J. Stover of Meredith, NH; a brother, Rick Stover of Lake Mary, FL; a sister, Lori S. (John) Steadman of Gilbert, AZ.

Scot and I were brothers in many ways. Life has a way of making you think of how you could have done better. If I could I would go back and enjoy his friendship and not care about the future. God Bless. Love to Sue, Lori and Rick

Scott was a friend, roommate, and shipmate on the Carl Vinson. We were plankowners together and I have many memories of he and I. I spent 2 weeks leave at his house with his mother, sister and brother whom I have often thought of. My condolences to his wife, sons, parents and siblings.

I served with scott while in thé US Navy aboard thé CVN70 Carl Vinson as Machinist Mate from 1980-1983 statiioned in Newport News, Virginia. He was like a big brother to me, spent alot of time in the machinery room, but also with a few other ship mates had the opportunity to visit his parents in Islemorada Florida, he will be greatly missed, and pray for his family

I am so very sorry for your loss.I met Scot in High School, and must say, he was always one of my favorites..His big warm smile could light up a room and he often offered very useful advice on any subject...and had such a calm demeanor about him. Scot was the kind of friend that stood by you when you needed somebody to be there.I will cherish the time spent with him, and will continue to keep him in my prayers. Fondly, Kim

Scot was one of the most athletic and competitive individuals I ever had the pleasure of competing with. We both were on the 1978 and 1979 Varsity football team for Coral Shores Highschool. He was truly, pound for pound, one of the toughest guys I ever practiced against on that field on Plantation Key. He rang my bell more than once. His positions on the field: Offensive center and Defensive end. Do you remember his green van? I am sorry to see that he left us so early. Best wishes, David.

Letter to Dillan: Your Dad was in my life for more than 40 years. When I was a child he was my hero. When I was 10 years old my Dad was murdered. My brother had already moved away. Scot became my big brother. He saved my life on numerous occasions. I feel I have lost my heart and my soul. I feel alone now. Your Father was my hero, my brother, my friend. I was Scott's English teacher at CSHS in Tavernier. I remember his entering the class with a big smile and full of life. He was well liked. It is so sad he was taken from us so young. Deanna Johnson. God Bless you all,

I just saw an old H.S. wrestling photo and I saw the RIP next to Scot's name:(. I was a couple of classes behind him but we use to pair up in practice when he was a Sr & I was a Sophmore. Wow, sorry to hear of his passing at such a young age. God Bless you and your family. He was always cool to me even though he was one TOUGH DUDE who had his way with me in practice!!!!!

As i wait for the super bowl game i think of my high school football days. Scot was older but a good source of learning for me.He played games on me like putting itching powder in my wreastling suit at a inportant match, that i won by the way, and would boost me up for a game or match with his spirit. I will hold these thoughts of him and he will live on with me.
