Shaun Wm. Smith, age 61, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, in Port Charlotte, FL.
He was born on August 22, 1961, in Hartford, Connecticut, to William and Julianna Smith. Shaun was raised in Windsor, CT, where he attended school and graduated Windsor High in 1979. He was a man of few wants and needs, although he did have a repertoire of things he liked. As a youngster he raced motor-cross and as an adolescent participated in racing at the Stafford Speedway driving the modified nine of diamonds. He was an avid NASCAR fan rooting for drivers from Connecticut and Florida.
Shaun lived on the outer banks of North Carolina for 10 years where he took up boating and fishing. He then moved to Port Charlotte where he resided for 20 years. He added cooking to his list of accomplishments and was a whiz in the kitchen. Tagging along with Shaun were his faithful dogs “Spike” and lately, “Willie”.
Shaun was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Roger and Mary Smith of Windsor, CT, his maternal grandparents William and Elvira Severni of Avon, CT, and a sister, Desiree Anne Smith. He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his life, his parents William and Julianna Smith, and many aunts, uncles and cousins, and a special cousin and friend Cynthia Glennon of Hingham, MA, who was always just a phone call away. He has left us all with a deep ache in our hearts.
A memorial service celebrating Shaun’s life will be held at a later date in Windsor, Connecticut. Please return to this tribute site for updated information on the location, day, date and time. Thank you.
