Shirley Ewing Trader, 82, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014 in Port Charlotte.
Born November 1, 1931 in Wilmington, Delaware, Shirley, a retired business woman, moved from her native Delaware to Port Charlotte in 1993. A loving mother and great-grandmother, Shirley also loved birds, caring for forty birds in her personal aviary and was a member of the Suncoast Canary and Finch Club of Port Charlotte.
She is survived by her children, daughter Cheryl L. Schmidt, and sons William “Bill” Bartels, Jr. and Arthur David Steele; six grand and seven great-grandchildren; a brother Wilson D. Ewing, Jr.; a niece, Judy Yeager, and many extended family members.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM today, Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Burial will be held in her native Delaware at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Tidewell Hospice Philanthropy Department.
