Twyla D. Lewis, 71, of Punta Gorda, Florida and formerly of Lake Placid, Florida passed away peacefully at home Saturday, June 9, 2018.

Twyla was born November 4, 1946 in Tupelo, Mississippi to the late Richard P. and Helen L. (Mabry) Sappington. She lived most of her life in Highlands County, Florida where the family had a business in Lake Placid. In February 2018 she moved to Punta Gorda from Asheville, NC.

Twyla is survived by her loving family, her husband of 55 years, Gerald Jerome Lewis; three daughters, Marsha Green, Carey Lewis and Cynthia “Nicki” Bell; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held by the family in Lake Placid at a later date.

Prayers to your family. Loosing a parent is cutting you in half. Loosing your spouse is beyond hurt. As I recently lost my spouse. I understand your hurt. Just know God Can get you through each day. Especially when it is hard to bare. Prayers for everyone.

I will always cherish the good memories I had with you we met when we were just nothing but kids and I grew to love you so much. God bless Gerald and the girls

I had no problem dear that Twyla was so sick. We met in Canal Point in 3rd grade. Curly black hair, I remember so well. I remember when she moved to Clewiston. Always thought of her during the years as a childhood friend. Just a few years ago we reconnected thanks to F/B. Prayers to you all, when my husband passed in 2016. Twyla would write encouragement to me.

We are so sorry for your loss. We have many fond memories of Twyla and Gerald. She was such a generous person and a very good friend. We are holding the whole family up in prayer.
