Walter is survived by his loving wife, Patricia France; his daughter, Michele Galluppi; his son, Scott France; granddaughter, Nichole Crouthamel; grandsons, Justin Galluppi, Matthew France, and Ethan France; and niece, Cicely Fletcher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon, and Elizabeth France; his sister, Margaret Fletcher; his nephew, Raymond Fletcher, and his grandson Jacob France.
An alumnus of Penn State University, Walter’s professional life was distinguished by his innovative work as a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer. Walter excelled in fabricating machinery and robots. His contributions to the field were not only functional but also creative, reflecting his broad talents and keen intellect. Walter served honorably in the Coast Guard, where he applied his engineering skills and steadfast dedication. His military service was a point of pride and contributed to his strong sense of discipline and commitment.
He was an active member of several congregations throughout his life, including Deep Run Presbyterian, Cypress Lake Presbyterian, and The Chapel at the Institute. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in service and fellowship.
Walter’s hobbies were as varied as his talents. In his younger years, he was an avid sailor and traveler. Later, he became a prominent member of the Paradise Coastmen Chorus, the Lee County Band, and the Hockencafella German Band. When he could no longer participate in music, he turned his attention to woodworking, creating beautiful trinkets that are cherished by his family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Roberson Funeral Home, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL, on November 8, 2024, at 3:00pm. Walter’s life and legacy will be celebrated by all those he touched by his generosity, creativity, and warmth.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to help fund Parkinson’s, Cancer, and Alzheimer’s Research in memory of Walter. His spirit of giving and community involvement will continue to inspire all who knew him.
