I was just one of several hundred young women who were blessed with having Wanda Jubb as our VHS physical education instructor and cheerleading/ tennis coach. We knew her middle name, her birthday, her home address, her Renault Dauphine (remember the country horn - city horn?), her Saab, her companion Polly, her Cocker spaniel. We simply were crazy about her. She possessed youth, attractiveness, professionalism, knowledge, and a sense of caring for her students during the school year and the summer-off months. Oftentimes, Wanda was our wheels home after school, or after a tennis practice or meet.
Still a sophomore at VHS, Wanda introduced me to fast-pitch women’s softball, of which she was actively involved. Oh, those Labor Day tournaments in Lansing, Charlotte, and Bay City! It was quite a growing-up experience, confronted with a boat-load of older players who formerly played semi- or professional baseball. But Wanda was always there, always keeping a watchful eye over us.
Fortunate for me, Wanda also managed many fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball teams. During my college years, summers were always highlighted with team travels to Michigan-Ohio-Indiana’s Tri-State Travel League. And then, 40 years later, Wanda was still enlisting us “seniors” into Michigan’s Senior Olympics. Wow! Catch my drift -- Wanda loved softball.
Truly, I could not have wished or hoped for a more supportive, instructive and personal friend in my younger years. Wanda gave me balance and a sense of who I was. I was so very privileged to have known and loved her.

Wanda, Muriel and I worked together for many years for the Friends of Music.
Wanda gave so much wisdom and guidance as we brought classical musicians to Charlotte County. I do appreciate all she did for Chaps and the golf tournament.
Her warm and smiling personality will be missed by many. connie swett, Memphis, Tn.
Wanda was our physical education teacher at Vicksburg High School. She was always very caring and compassionate. I'm sure she will be missed by all who knew her.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
I will always remember Wanda as a lovely lady and a fully committed professional. She was bold in clear and respectful ways. I often marveled at how she could make important and controversial points without appearing to argue or needing to act defensively. She had a most credible way of clearing clouds to make way for facts. If ever there was a fully lived, inspirational life, Wanda Jubb lived it.
I was fortunate enough to have worked with Wanda at CDC. She was the best colleague and I learned so much from her. She truly made a difference in her tireless work on behalf of kids throughout the nation.
I knew Wanda as I grew up when she played softball with my mom and she was the phys ed teacher at Vicksburg high school in 1966 when I was there. I was so looking forward to seeing her next summer now I am sad that will never happen. You and your family have my greatest condolences on her passig.
I was fortunate to know Wanda though her work with CDC grants. I was one of her many counterparts in New Mexico. Yes her work also influenced and touched New Mexico. She helped with to move forward school health education in ways she never realized. She is deeply missed. Blessings and prayers for all of Wanda's family, friends and colleagues.
I was fortunate to be working on the CDC grant in New Mexico and was able to know Wanda professionally over the years. Yes her and her work made it all the way to New Mexico. Was an inspiration and kind spirit. She is greatly missed but she will live on through all the people she has helped through her career. Blessings and prayers for those she had left behind
I worked with Wanda at CDC in Atlanta. She was always very nice to me and always complimented me on my hard work. She was a caring person. I know she will be missed by many.
It was a pleasure to have worked with Wanda while she was at the CDC (Division of Adolescent and School Health). Her enthusiasm, knowledge, and communication skills were outstanding and her contributions were many. She recently visited the CDC/DASH in Atlanta and I'll always remember that smile.
I'm so very sorry to find out that Wanda has passed away! She always had the same wonderful smile when you saw her. I've known her since 1960's. Will remember her smile forever. Chris P.S. Sorry for your loss.
Even tho, I usually talked to Wanda for short times.Wanda had a generous way of sharing her time and talents with others...but probably never realized the far reaching impact of her efforts. - I'll miss you, Semper FI Marine!
My condolences to the family.
I have so much to thank Wanda for - she was a wonderful friend and professional colleague!
Wanda had a generous way of sharing her time and talents with others...but probably never realized the far reaching impact of her efforts. I had the pleasure of working with her when I first came to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Division of Adolescent and School Health, Atlanta, GA, as a secretary to that Branch. Wanda so kind and she will truly be missed.

Wanda had a generous way of sharing her time and talents with others...but probably never realized the far reaching impact of her efforts. I had the pleasure of working with her on the Board of Directors for the Society of State Leaders of Health and Physical Education (the "Society") and respected her passion and contributions both as an emeritus member and fellow past-president of this organization. I knew Wanda as a well respected state education agency colleague. Later, Wanda became my assigned Nevada Department of Education Project Officer from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Division of Adolescent and School Health. Her mentoring and guidance was a catalyst that later facilitated improvements to Nevada's K-12 public school health education programming which utilized the CDC federal grant funding that we cooperatively implemented. I was fortunate to have been the recipient of Wanda's professional advice in that capacity and also appreciated her professional development talents as a trainer of teachers. She has made such a difference in improving health education instruction for students nationwide.

Her accomplishments and commitment to school health education has had a lasting impact. I will miss her smile and laughter.

Wanda was such an asset to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's coordinated school health program. It was an honor to have worked with her.
I met Wanda when I was a staff member running the AIDS project at ASHA. She was the "queen of health education" and a wonderful person. She was loved by many and will be missed by them all. Her contributions to the profession live on.
A dear mentor and friend from the Society of State Directors of Health, Physical Education, recreation and Dance. She made a difference.

I enjoyed the many years we worked together at CHAPS. As the professional person that she was, she was always prepared for whatever she was involved in including meetings. It was comforting to know that she had thoroughly looked over whatever material was to be presented or discussed and with her red pen had made notes and/or corrections. After serving for 16 years, Wanda had to resign from the CHAPS board of directors due to her eye problems. I have missed that red pen. I will miss her guidance and support.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Wanda was a wonderful friend with whom we have many fond memories of times that we spent with her. Love, Donna and Shirley
A friend and support to all who have been committed to the health of children and families in Michigan and across the nation. Always fought the good fight.
To one of my chief mentors, many thanks and wonderful memories.
Wanda was one of two senior high school teachers I had who made a great impression on me. She held me up when I wanted to give up. She encouraged and challenged. I hold her memory dear.
I will never forget your smile, your friendship, and your dedication to coordinated school health. It was a joy to work with you at the CDC. Your memory will last forever.
We compiled a list of things Wanda taught us. These are things we have incorporated into our daily living. Some funny, some practical. So many great trips and memories. We will miss her and that smile.
Please accept our deepest condolences for your family's loss.
