Wayne David Sloneker, 76, of Punta Gorda, Florida died Thursday, May 22, 2025, at AdventHealth-Port Charlotte Hospital, Port Charlotte, Florida.
Wayne was born January 15, 1949, in Newark, New Jersey to the late Wayne and Dorothy Sloneker. He had a younger sister, Sharon (predeceased). Wayne attended Technical School in Pennsauken, New Jersey and worked as a HVAC mechanic for Marriott Hotels until he transferred to their sales department. He then owned and operated Cutting Edge Lawn Maintenance and Landscaping where he enjoyed being outdoors and owning his own business until his retirement. Wayne joined the Marine Corps in 1966 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War era. He was an active member and former officer of the American Legion Post 103 in Punta Gorda, Florida. Wayne enjoyed being with his wife and family and was beyond proud of his children and three grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed hearing about their current endeavors and watching his grandkids’ sporting events. Wayne was also a diehard Eagles football fan and was thrilled to see them go to the Super Bowl this past season.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Maureen, son Wayne F. Sloneker and his wife, Michelle, daughter Amy LaBarca and her husband, Chip LaBarca, and his three grandchildren, Brooke, Mia and Zach.
A Graveside services and interment will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 09:30 AM, at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida with military honors by a U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard.
