Wayne John Bartz, 72, of Punta Gorda, Florida formerly of Buffalo, NY died Friday, August 28, 2020 at home.
Wayne was born March 26, 1948 in Buffalo, New York to the late Raymond and Betty (Bischoff) Bartz. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School, Lancaster, NY and a graduate of Buffalo State College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a plant foreman for Gernatt Asphalt, Irving, NY for 18 years before moving to Florida in 2005 from Western New York. In Florida he was employed as an equipment operator for the Lee County Dept. of Transportation. He enjoyed boating and fishing.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 47 years, Lynn Sackett Bartz of Punta Gorda, a son Dr. Daniel (Christine Oler) Bartz, of Cape Coral, FL, a daughter Cheryl Bartz Morrison (Daniel Morrison) of Ponte Vedra, FL, a brother, William (Nancy Tomzak) Bartz of Holland, NY; a sister, Nancy Bartz Paolucci of West Seneca, NY and 3 granddaughters, Ava, Lalor, and Darby. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter Emma Margaret.

Dear Wayne Bartz Family, Very saddened to hear of your loss. Wayne and I were next door neighbors and very close friends during our childhood. We did everything together, every season. Baseball, skating, working on the veg farm, etc. Unfortunately we loss touch with one another during our post college years. Sister Nancy would often stop at our home here and bring me up to date on her, Bill and Wayne. I understand there maybe an memorial service up here in New York some time in the future. If so I would appreciate hearing from you and would desire attending. I regret now not taking the time and opportunity to sit with Wayne and 'catch up' on how God has blessed him over the past 50 years. Don Wild

I come to know Wayne in Florida I worked with Wayne for eight years at Lee County I car pooled with Wayne to work for most of the eight years until one day he told me no more that I left to late for work wayne like to leave at 6 I wanted to leave at 6:20 used to aggravate him Wayne lived across the street from me for 12 years he was a good friend and a great nieghbor I miss him I will never forget him Rest in peace Wayne I wish the best for all of his family
