Born in Quincy, Ma on September 24, 1937, Bill spent hie childhood in St Petersburg, FL and Keene, NH. In 1956 Bill graduated from Keene High School, where he played center on the KHS football team. He attended Worcester polytechnic Institute and graduated from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. After college, Bill served in the United States Coast Guard.
Bill was the co-owner and manager of Daner-Hayes International Marketing for over 25 years, a manufacturing representative company in Wayland, MA. Before retiring Bill and his wife Risa were Regional Real Estate Sales Agents for Redfin Reality in Carlisle, MA. After retirement Bill spent time in Colorado and recently moved to Punta Gorda, FL where he resided until his death.
Bill is survived by his sons, William Scott Hayes and Robert Todd Hayes, Todd’s wife Wendy and their children, Nicole, and Jackson Hayes; by his stepson, Adam Bell and his wife Paula Vuksic Bell and Paula’s daughters, Julia, and Alyssa Gobuzas; by his stepdaughter Alyssa Bell Katz and her husband Mitchel and their children, Joshua, and Samuel Katz; and by his son’s mother, Susan Applin Hayes.
Bill’s love of family was the center of his life, and he reveled in the antics of his grandchildren. He loved the Ocean, cooking, and dancing and was characterized by his gentlemanly ways, with always a smile and joke for everyone. Bill prided himself on always being dressed appropriately for any occasion, even when going to the beach. His passing leaves a sad hole in the fabric of his family that can never be filled.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
