Wilma Rose Michaud, 91, died December 31st, 2023, in Port Charlotte, Florida.
She was born in Deer Lodge, Tennessee in 1932 to the late Hilman and Phoebe Jones in a farmhouse. Wilma graduated from Sunbright School in Wartburg, Tennessee. At the age of 18 Wilma moved to Detroit, Michigan. She went to work at McKesson Drugs where she met and married Harold Rein, with whom she had 3 children with. In 1974, Harold and Wilma purchased Carmen’s Pizzeria and Family Restaurant which they proceeded to own for 11 years. In 1985 Wilma, and her 2nd husband, Walter Lehtonen, moved to Port Charlotte, Florida to enjoy golfing and retirement. Wilma, after Walter’s death, met and married Lenoard Michaud. For the last years of her life, Wilma and Len enjoyed traveling, gambling, and spending time with their families.
Wilma will be remembered for her love of church, helping many charities like Meals on Wheels, and her love for playing and watching golf. She loved cooking roast beef dinners for her family and entertaining. Wilma spent much time caring for her grandchildren which brought her much joy.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Hilman and Phoebe Jones, her 7 brother and sisters, her daughter, Vickie Hughes, and her husband, Leonard Michaud. She is survived by her son Mark Rein(Dotty) of Lakeland, Florida and her daughter, Leslie Wetherington(Eric) of Punta Gorda, Florida, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great children.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 10th at 1:00pm at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm and Burial will be held immediately following at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.
